About The Pounders

The Motor City, once the heart and soul of U.S. industry and innovation, has been among the nation’s urban economies hardest hit by the economic downturn. This city that The Wall Street Journal once described as "The Center of the Universe", is now at the top of the list in unemployment, foreclosures, and bankruptcies.  With limited available options, singer/songwriter Lefty Coulson decided to create his own opportunity.  "I decided to do what any red-blooded Detroiter would do”, said Coulson, “start a rock band, write some songs, and make a record.”  So, along with three fellow musicians from Detroit, Dan Logan, Jim Amann and Michael Perantoni, Coulson did just that and formed The Pounders.

To The Pounders, it's all about the music.  Powerful, driven, punchy, melodic.  Any way you say it, The Pounders' exemplify all that is right with music.  Their combination of British Invasion melodic sensibilities with their gritty Detroit roots provide a unique foundation for music that is both familiar and different at the same time.

For the past several years, The Pounders have been playing live shows around the Detroit, Chicago as well as Boston and New York.  In 2012, The Pounders switched gears and added bassist John Christy to the lineup, as well as saw the departure of Jim Amann to other horizons.  With a fresh perspective and a renewed energy, The Pounders continue writing, recording and performing new music for an ever growing audience.
